Buying a care bed, for a disabled child for example, is an investment that deserves careful consideration. In this article, discover the main aspects that make a bed more solid, safer and more practical:
it's important to make the right choice!

Quality materials :

The main material of the crib, used for the base, frame and slats, is crucial in ensuring the overall solidity of the unit. It's also important in terms of maintenance and use: aluminium and Plexiglas surfaces are easier to clean, and if the child tends to lick or bite the structural parts of the bed, this is the best solution.

Finally, from an aesthetic point of view, solid wood creates a warmer atmosphere, while aluminium, thanks to the many paint colours available, can blend harmoniously with any bedroom décor.

Depending on the model, Ergosolutions beds are made from solid wood, aluminium, Plexiglas/lexan or high-strength mesh.

Tested safety.

When it comes to children, and even more so when they can stand upright and are prone to seizures, you need to make sure that the bed cannot tip over. If they are very agitated, or if they tend to hit the frame or throw themselves against the walls, an additional locking bar is essential. Check that it's easy for you to use (on Ergosolutions beds, the bar simply slides a few centimetres to block the opening of the doors at the top of the bed, while reinforcing the structure). Be careful about the quality of the equipment (upholstery for example) so that the child cannot alter and ingest pieces of material. No small part should be detachable and accessible.

The locking bar provides additional security.

Quality wheels.

They support the entire structure of the bed and are subject to regular stress: the wheels are a vital element, although they often take a back seat when it comes to purchasing criteria. We therefore recommend that you check their robustness, the quality of the materials they're made from, and also their position: ideally, they should be located under the bed.

As a result, the bed can be perfectly glued to a wall, avoiding the risk of bumping into the wheels and falling out when passing close to the bed.

The quality of the wheels is crucial when choosing a bed.

A bed that complies with European standards.

European standards are strict, but they are vital for guaranteeing the safety of the bed's occupant. Check for the CE and NF labels and ask about the country of manufacture. Ergosolutions beds are made in Germany and the Netherlands and meet the most stringent standards.

A bed that's "easy to live with".

While the bed should be comfortable and pleasant for the child, it should also be practical to use. Think in particular of models that open on both sides to make the bed easier to make, and beds without solid panels (with bars or Plexiglas on all 4 sides) if you need to be able to keep an eye on the child easily. Wheels make it easier for one person to move the bed, and models that can be raised in their entirety allow a disabled parent to slide their wheelchair under the bed so that the slatted base is at the right height, making it easier to interact with the child, change their diaper, wash and so on.
